In Psalm 45:7-8 we read: “You love righteousness and hate wickedness; Therefore God, thy God, has anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. All thy garments smell of myrrh, aloes, and cassia out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad.” Proverbs 27:9 says: “Ointment and perfume delight the heart…” Only essential oils have mood altering properties. The anointing oils of the Bible always contained aromatic essential oils. Oils such as Frankincense, Myrrh, Aloes (Sandalwood), Cassia, and many others are mood elevating. They have emotional impacts that are positive and uplifting. Our emotional state is a key element to our state of health and to the healing of dis-ease. A positive attitude must also be accompanied by right habits of healthful living according to God’s laws. A little oil of joy can go a long way in keeping us well.
